Pindari Glacier

About Pindari Glacier

Found in the high reaches of the Kumaon Himalayas, the Pindari Glacier is a stunning natural wonder located southeast of Nanda Devi and Nanda Kot.This glacier is around 9 kilometers long and gives birth to the Pindar River, which meets the Alakananda at Karnaprayag in the Garhwal district.

The trail to the glacier takes you through the villages of Saung, Loharkhet, over the Dhakuri Pass, and on to Khati village (the last village on the trail). It then continues through Dwali, Phurkia, and finally reaches Zero Point, Pindar, marking the end of the trail. While most of the trail follows the Pindari River, the river is mostly hidden until after Khati.

The Pindari Glacier trail offers a 90-kilometer (56-mile) round-trip trek, usually completed comfortably in 6 days. Apart from attracting trekkers, the Pindari Glacier is also known for thrilling adventure sports like ice climbing and mountain biking.
