About Baijnath

Baijnath, situated by the Gomati River in Uttarakhand’s Bageshwar district, is known for its ancient temples, recognized as National Monuments by the Archaeological Survey of India in Uttarakhand. Baijnath, once Kartikeyapura, was the Katyuri kings’ seat, ruling parts of Garhwal and Kumaun in present-day Uttarakhand, India, and Doti in modern Nepal.

Adding to its cultural significance, Baijnath is part of the ‘Shiva Heritage Circuit’ in Kumaon under the Government of India’s Swadesh Darshan Scheme, emphasizing its rich historical and religious heritage.
